Skip Rittenhouse: Midtown Village Hosts ‘Holiday Week'

Shopping around Rittenhouse has become cliche; the stores are predictable, the out-of-towners are frustrating and the prices? Don't get us started.

So why not avoid the Walnut Street corridor this shopping season? From December 17 through the 20, restaurants and shops in Philadelphia’s Midtown Village will host the area’s second annual Holiday Week—four days full of special deals, discounts and in-store events, blocks away from the Rittenhouse madness.

For those who never venture east of Broad, Midtown Village is defined by the borders of Broad Street to 11th Street and Market Street to Spruce Street.

There are more than 80 independent merchants in Midtown Village, and with shopping local all the rage this season, you’re sure to find the perfect gifts. Holiday carolers will stroll through town each day as you shop, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

You can find coupons for more than a dozen restaurants and shops at the Midtown Village Web site. (Hint: the list includes more than a couple of our favorite bars and BYOs.)
