Open Call for a Cheesy Chef Throwdown

Nick Suarez and Theo Peck of The Food Experiments are looking for amateur chefs to compete in The Cheese Experiment, going down on June 5 at World Cafe Live. Competitors will go head-to-head with their best cheese-based dishes, with the chance to win prizes, and a spot in the finals at Brooklyn Brewery. The dish can be savory or sweet.

"We're accepting entrants right now, and are looking for around 25 competitors to enter the fray," said Suarez. "In the past we've given away airline tickets from AeroMexico and JetBlue, cash, and other local prizes. The winner of each city on the tour will come to Brooklyn to compete against our NYC all-star competitors."

Each city has a themed event, with past stops highlighting pork in Austin, brunch in New Orleans, and tacos in D.C. The finals will be a "Make Your Best Bite" in NYC, where a champion will be crowned. Winners will be decided by the audience and a panel of judges.

Suarez mentioned that Philly icon DiBruno Bros. will be sponsoring the event, with each entrant receiving a $50 gift certificate to Whole Foods to defray some of the cost of creating the dish.

Tickets to the event, which are $10 and include a taste of each competing dish, can be found on the event site, and entry forms are there as well for those prepared to enter the ring. [The Feast]
