Forbes' Under 30 Summit to Permanently Call Philadelphia Home

Forbes' summit focusing on some of the greatest young minds in the world will remain in the City of Brotherly Love.

Forbes is making Philadelphia the permanent home of its annual Under 30 Summit.

The magazine made the decision after months of negotiations with the city following the summit's debut in October, reported the Philadelphia Inquirer. The magazine had planned to move the event to various cities.

Mayor Michael Nutter said the city won't put up money, but will help Forbes connect with potential corporate, entrepreneurial and non-profit sponsors.

"Philadelphia is thrilled to welcome the Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit back to our great city for another innovative and game-changing gathering of the nation’s most influential young people," said Nutter. "In its inaugural year, Forbes crafted an agenda that capitalized on Philly’s great assets and connected Millennials with local schools, our thriving innovative entrepreneur scene and highlighted various aspects of our City. In its second year, I am looking forward to the Summit’s growth and expansion. We are proud to that Forbes has found a home in Philadelphia."

This year's summit is scheduled for Oct. 4-7 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Related events will be held throughout the city.

Summit organizers were impressed with Philadelphia's vibrancy and growing population of people in their 20s.

"Following the success of last year, we look forward to cementing the Under 30 Summit as the world’s preeminent event for young entrepreneurs and innovators," said Forbes editor Randall Lane. "The Summit will help chart the world’s course over the next half-century."

Monica Lewinsky, and Malala Yousafzai were among the speakers at the inaugural event.
