Man Posing as Landlord Scams Renter Out of $2K in East Falls: Police



    Fake Online Ads Target Local Renters

    Renters beware! Fake landlords using phony ads online may be targeting you. NBC10's Harry Hairston has more. (Published Tuesday, June 2, 2015)

    Police are looking to identify a man wanted for fraud in East Falls.

    A woman reported that she looked at a residence for rent as of May 1 on the 3400 block of Henry Ave. On April 17, she paid $1,500 to a man who identified himself as David Moody. On April 24, she paid Moody an additional $700 to secure the apartment.

    On May 1, when she arrived at the apartment, she found a chain and lock on the property and realized she was the victim of a fraud.

    The photo above, provided by the Philadelphia Police Department, is one that was taken by the victim while the property was being shown to her.
