Eagles QB Michael Vick was once one of the faces of Nike.
But after serving time in federal prison for dogfighting, a reported $2 million endorsement deal with the Swoosh -- along with plenty of other deals -- dried up.
That was until Friday.
"We have re-signed Michael Vick as a Nike athlete," Nike spokeswoman Megan Saalfeld said in an e-mail to CNN Money.
The Nike deal symbolizes Vick’s return to the pinnacle of his sport. During a Pro Bowl season after taking over as the Eagles signal caller in Week 1, Vick picked up a few local endorsements and even an energy bracelet deal.
But none of the endorsements for companies as iconic as Nike -- one of the worldwide leaders in sports apparel.
For their part Nike is trying to distance themselves from Vick's past transgressions. In a statement Friday, Nike says it does "not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field."
