The very first trailer for "The Martian" dropped Monday–starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kristen Wiig, to name a few–and outer space has never looked so scary.
"Every human being has a basic instinct to help each other out. If a hiker gets lost in the mountains, people coordinate a search. If an earthquake levels a city, people all over the world send emergency supplies. This instinct is found in every culture, without exception," Damon explains as the trailer opens.
Damon plays astronaut Mark Watney, who fights to stay alive after being stranded on Mars by his NASA colleagues due to a storm.
In the action-packed trailer, the actor does his best to make contact with Earth for help against all (and we mean all) odds. "So, in the face of overwhelming odds, I'm left with only one option: I'm going to have to science the s--t out of this," he's heard saying.
The Ridley Scott-directed film is based on the bestselling book by Andy Weir, and also stars Kate Mara, Sean Bean and Donald Glover. "The Martian" will hit theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.
