Save the date because on Sunday, April 12 the bustling restaurant industry in Manayunk is serving up its StrEAT Food Festival to kick off the bi-annual Manayunk Restaurant Week, which runs through Friday, April 24.
This season’s celebration begins with the day-long food festival as more than 40 food trucks line up along the popular Main Street, preparing everything from BBQ to rich desserts.
Participating merchants will highlight dishes prepared with this year’s special spring ingredient, so keep an eye out for dishes made with strawberries!
You’ll also have the opportunity to sample and purchase homemade oils, spices and seasonal jams from one of the many gourmet vendors. And don’t forget to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables at the local farm and produce stand.
Take a quick shopping break or enjoy live music, while the kids enjoy the new kid-friendly zone, Recess, hosted by Destination Schuylkill River. Recess will feature a moon bounce, face painting and fun sidewalk games.
For those over 21, stop by the Beer Garden on Cotton Street to sample local brews.
The food festival begins 11 a.m. through 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 12. Main Street will be closed to traffic for the day, but alternative street parking will be made available.
Be ready to come on an empty stomach.
The event is happening rain or shine.
