My Mother: Summers Meant Mom Time Down the Shore

We're celebrating Mother's Day this year by honoring our own moms here at NBC10. This story in our My Mother series is from NBC10 Meteorologist Dave Warren who spent some of his most memorable "mom" days down the shore.

My mom taught Geometry at Upper Darby High School throughout my years at the neighboring Haverford High School. Sometimes, I felt like she would look forward to the summer just as much as the students did. We owned a house in Stone Harbor and had the opportunity to spend the entire summer down the shore, enjoying the sunshine on the beach or exploring a new board game on an rainy afternoon.

A highlight of the summer was always the July Fourth parade of bikes put together by the recreation department. On every other day, my little bike would be used to take me to town or baseball practice, but that one day, it would transform into something that you might see on television, at least that's what I thought.

An honorable mention here and there was nice, but that ribbon has since made it to the back of the attic somewhere.

The memories will last forever.
