It may not be Cannes, but who needs to see movies on the Cote d’Azur, when you can see them right down the road -- in New Hope, Pa.?

That’s right, New Hope is hosting its first Film Festival.

It runs all week starting Monday June 21 at the New Hope Arts Center.

The Festival is showing feature films, documentaries, short film programs and student films from all over the world. Most are from the U.S., but some other submissions come from Germany, Australia, India and Canada.

Many of the filmmakers will attend the showings, so there may be a chance to meet the man or woman behind the lens and discuss what you just saw. It’s pretty cool for movie lovers.

Don’t worry, there’s something for everyone at the festival.

For kids, there’s the animated film The Magistical, about the guardian chosen to watch over all living things.

For the more mature teen, there’s Invincible Summer, a short film about a teenager recovering from cancer treatment.

For the adults, there’s Expansive Grounds, a German documentary about the creation of the Berlin Holocaust Memorial.

Those are just three of the 86 films being shown at the festival, so if these don’t sound appealing, you will have plenty to choose from. William Hung, of American Idol fame, is even in one of the movies -- I am Somebody.

For more information on all the films go to newhopefilmfestival.com.

Tickets are available for all the events online at the TicketLeap Box Office and prices range from $10 to $15. If you wait to buy tickets at the venue, you’ll pay $20.
