Local Man Wins Philly Marathon

North Penn High grad finishes first in today's race.

Michael McKeeman, a North Penn High School graduate from Ardmore, Ap., was the top finisher for the men in Sunday's Philadelphia Marathon.

McKeeman won the race with a time of two hours, 17 minutes and 47 seconds.

He's no stranger to success in Philadelphia. McKeeman, now 36, finished second in the 2006 race.

The top finisher for the women was Irina Mashkantceva. She won with a time of two hours, 35 minutes and 34 seconds.

If Mashkantceva's unofficial time holds up, it would be a new race record.

McKeeman wasn't the only local runner to find success at the marathon. Rachid Bensalem, 40, of Philadelphia won the Men's Masters Marathon with a time of two hours, 28 minutes and six seconds. Doreen McCoubrie, 51, of Malvern, Pa. won the Women's Masters Division in the half marathon with a time of one hour, 23 minutes and 22 seconds.
