Eight-time Emmy award-winning journalist Lu Ann Cahn joined NBC 10 News in 1987. As a member of the NBC 10 Investigators, Cahn reports on investigative stories Monday through Friday.

In 2005, Cahn won a National Emmy for the entry titled “Dirty Little Secret,” which uncovered elected borough leaders drinking in the ‘dry’ town of Colwyn, Pennsylvania.

Cahn is most admired by her colleagues and viewers for her personal story of battling breast cancer at the young age of 35. Through her struggle and determination conquering this disease, she has heightened the awareness and importance of breast self-exam and mammography testing. Her 1992 special report, Breast Cancer: My Personal Story, won her two Mid-Atlantic Region Emmy awards: Best Community Outreach and Best Documentary. Cahn has campaigned both in Harrisburg and Washington D.C. for additional funding benefiting breast cancer research and mammography testing. She serves on the board of the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation and speaks regularly on behalf of the organization. She also sits on the Advisory Board of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and serves as the Honorary Chairperson of the annual “You’ve Gotta Have Guts” 5K run.

In February 1994, Cahn traveled to Lillehammer, Norway, and reported on the pageantry and competition of the XVII Winter Olympic Games, and also reported live from Atlanta, Georgia, during the Games of the XXVI Olympiad.

Cahn’s broadcast career began in 1978 at WTVC in Chattanooga, Tennessee. From there she joined WAAY in Huntsville, Alabama where she worked as a reporter for two years. KARK in Little Rock, Arkansas was her next stop, where she briefly reported until joining WBTV in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1980. She reported from WTVJ in Miami, Florida for two years before finally joining the NBC 10 News team.

A Columbus, Ohio native, Cahn graduated with honors from the University of Georgia in 1978.

Cahn and her husband, photojournalist Phil Houser, reside in Montgomery County with their daughter, Alexa.
