Officials in York County say the plane went down at Shreveport North Airport in Washington Township just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

Coroner Barry Bloss said 80-year-old James Wardrop of Dover was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma about three hours later at York Hospital.

The privately owned airstrip near Wellsville has frequently hosted gatherings by regional ultralight clubs.

State police are investigating. The Federal Aviation Administration defers investigation of ultralight crashes to local law enforcement.

The crash comes about five months after a man died after crashing an ultralight in nearby Lancaster County.
