Naked Man Exposes Himself in Newark: Cops

Police are looking into if the same man is responsible for indecent exposures last year

A man, either fully or partially naked, was spotted exposing himself in a Delaware community Sunday and police are wondering if the same man is responsible for a series of similar incidents last year.

Newark Police say that on Sunday night just before 9, a woman saw a naked man walking in front of a home on the 300 block of Wilson Road in Newark.

The man -- described as a white male between 25 to 35 years old, about 5-10-inches tall and 175 pounds with short cropped or balding hair -- then dipped out of sight between two homes, cops said.

A short time later, police believe the same man -- now clothed in shorts and a T-shirt – was seen getting into a gold- or tan-colored sedan parked at the corner of Wilson and Cheltenham Roads and driving off.

Police say that about 35 minutes later, two women walking along the 100 block of W Park Place saw a man fitting the same description hiding in some bushes near a home. He allegedly dropped his pants and showed his buttocks to the women before running off, according to investigators.

The same man could be responsible for five similar incidents last Fall when a man was seen running around naked or naked from the waist down in Newark, police said.

Since October there were several reports of the naked man roaming Newark. In some instances he is completely naked, in others he was sans pants, wearing a plaid shirt. One time he was only wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt on top. He’s also been seen fondling himself. In one earlier report to police, the man followed someone while masturbating.

Anyone with additional information about this incident should contact Newark Police Det. Nicholas Sansome at 302-366-7110 ext. 135 or via e-mail.
