Maurice Cheeks, currently an assistant coach for the Thunder, was released from a Philadelphia hospital on Thursday after suffering a medical episode on his flight the day prior, a team official told ESPN's Royce Young.
Cheeks, a former Sixers player and head coach, was flying into the city and is "doing well," the team official said. The medical scare was undisclosed and, according to the report, the Thunder are awaiting test results before releasing information on the incident.
Cheeks has spent six of the last seven seasons on Oklahoma City's staff. He played his first 11 NBA seasons for the Sixers and was the starting point guard on the 1983 championship team.
The four-time All-Star also served the Sixers as head coach for parts of four seasons from 2005 to 2009, as well as an assistant from 1994 to 2000.
