CSN's NFL Power Rankings: Clear Top, Bottom Tiers Sandwich Chaos in the Middle

With Thanksgiving upon us and December right around the corner, the race for the playoffs is just beginning to heat up.

Through 11 weeks of the NFL season a top and bottom tier have been settled out, but a number of division races and all four Wild Card spots are far from decided.

That uncertainty in projecting all 12 playoff teams was reflected in CSN's NFL Power Rankings for Week 12, compiled by Derrick Gunn and John Boruk, as the No. 9 and No. 26 team were separted by just two games.

Let's take a look at the complete rankings heading into Week 12.

1. Dallas (9-1)
They are rookies no more. Prescott has 17 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Elliott with 1,102 yards rushing, nine touchdowns and a 4.9 average. - Gunn (1)

If I had to vote right now, Dak Prescott would be league MVP, 17 touchdowns to just two interceptions. - Boruk (1)

3. New England (8-2)
It's Tom Brady’s world and everybody else is just living in it. - Gunn (3)

Somehow, the Pats' offense just keeps manufacturing weapons. Welcome to the NFL Malcolm Mitchell! - Boruk (3)

4. Oakland (8-2)
You have to learn how to win before you can win. Raiders average margin of wins is 6.5 points per game - Gunn (4)

6-0 in games played outside 'The Black Hole'. Derek Carr will receive MVP consideration. - Boruk (4)

5. Kansas City (7-3)
Minor setback losing at home to Tampa Bay. - Gunn (6)

Losing cornerback Marcus Peters was a big loss for Kansas City’s defense as the Bucs gained 442 yards in 19-17 win at Arrowhead. - Boruk (6)

5. Denver (7-3)
Coming off bye week, should get cornerback Aqib Talib back - Gunn (7)

Coming off their bye week, I expect quarterback Trevor Siemian to play even better when they host K.C. Sunday night. - Boruk (5)

7. NY Giants (7-3)
Defense is giving up just 20 points per game has allowed offense to stay in and win numerous games. - Gunn (5)

Five-game winning streak coming against teams without a winning record. - Boruk (8)

8. Washington (6-3-1)
Kirk Cousins is hitting his stride. Last 5 games: 10 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. - Gunn (8)

Skins vs. Cowboys on Thanksgiving is about as good as pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top. - Boruk (7)

9. Detroit (6-4)
Lions are the comeback kids. All six of their wins have been come from behind in 4th quarter. - Gunn (9)

Jim Bob Cooter’s offense has sputtered over the Lions' past four games. Only 277 yards vs. Jacksonville. - Boruk (11)

9. Atlanta (6-4)
Falcons coming off bye loading up for stretch run. Cornerback Desmond Trufant and running back Tevin coleman are back on the field. - Gunn (10)

Coming off a bye week, the Falcons offense really needs a healthy Tevin Coleman. - Boruk (10)

9. Miami (6-4)
Fins have won five straight. - Gunn (11)

Same as Giants above … I’m really trying to like Ryan Tannehill as an NFL quarterback, but I just can’t. - Boruk (9)

12. Minnesota (6-4)
Snapped four-game slide. - Gunn (12)

Finally stopped the bleeding with win over the Cardinals. First place on the line Thursday in Detroit. - Boruk (13)

13. Buffalo (5-5)
Bills have league's best rushing attack at 157.8 yards per game, but McCoy thumb surgery could hinder that. - Gunn (13)

Gutted out an ugly win at Cincinnati. Post-Thanksgiving schedule sets up very nice. - Boruk (14)

13. Houston (6-4)
Brock Osweiler's inconsistent quarterback play will hold this team back. - Gunn (15)

They outplayed the Raiders but some bad 4th-quarter calls cost them a victory. Boruk (12)

15. Philadelphia (5-5)
Too bad the Birds can't play all 16 games at home. Five straight road losses. - Gunn (14)

With four of final six at home, it’s not unrealistic to think Birds could still finish at 10-6. - Boruk (16)

16. Baltimore (5-5)
Solid second-ranked defense, but suspect offense. - Gunn (16)

Will 8-8 win the AFC North? If so, Ravens will be the team. - Boruk (15)

17. Pittsburgh (5-5)
Thought Steelers were legit Super Bowl contenders. That’s what I get for thinking. - Gunn (17)

Since 1999, Ben Roethlisberger has as many wins in Cleveland as any Browns quarterback does. - Boruk (17)

18. Indianapolis (5-5)
Keep a close watch on Andrew Luck's concussion. - Gunn (19)

Won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Offensive line still having its issues. Boruk (18)

19. San Diego (4-6)
The good and bad. The good: offense averages 29.2 points per game. The bad: defense allows 27.8 points per game. - Gunn (20)

He missed all of training camp, but watching Joey Bosa on film, you can see why Chargers picked him 3rd overall. - Boruk (20)

20. Tennessee (5-6)
Still not ready for prime time. - Gunn (21)

Just can’t get over the hump, fall to 1-3 in the AFC South. - Boruk (21)

20. Tampa Bay (5-5)
Big win at Kansas City keeps Bucs in playoff conversation. - Gunn (23)

Jameis Winston with back-to-back 300-yard passing games for the first time in his career. - Boruk (19)

22. Arizona (4-5-1)
Carson Palmer's 10 interceptions just scratches the surface of this team's demise. - Gunn (18)

It’s becoming clear 2015 was an anomaly season for Carson Palmer. This year, he’s part of the problem, not the solution. - Boruk (25)

23. Green Bay (4-6)
Defense decimated by injuries and giving up 38.3 points over the last 4 games. - Gunn (22)

Green Bay has allowed 153 points over their last 4 games (0-4). RB Christine Michael should play against Eagles. - Boruk (24)

24. Carolina (4-6)
Ain't over yet for defending NFC champs, but Kuechly out with concussion hurts. - Gunn (24)

Watching an emotional Luke Kuechly being carted off the field was tough to see. - Boruk (23)

24. New Orleans (4-6)
Special teams play has been especially atrocious. - Gunn (25)

Their last 3 losses have been by a combined 11 points.  Still have a shot in the AFC South. - Boruk (22)

26. Los Angeles (4-6)
The growing pains continue. - Gunn (27)

The Rams really dumbed down the offense for Jared Goff … Only attempted five passes over 10 yards and was 0-5. Boruk (26)

27. Cincinnati (3-6-1)
A.J. Green out with hamstring injury, Giovani Bernard out for year with an ACL tear. - Gunn (26)

Sinking fast. Offense racks up yards, but can’t score and it will only get worse with the loss of A.J. Green. - Boruk (28)

28. Chicago (2-8)
Through 10 games 2-8 for first time since 2002. - Gunn (28)

They’re nearly identical to the Jaguars in a horrifying, putrid way. - Boruk (t-29)

28. NY Jets (3-7)
Todd Bowles' biggest dilemma is which quarterback to play. - Gunn (30)

Not sure why Ryan Fitzpatrick returns to being the Jets starting quarterback, but the “Fitzmagic” is long gone from this team. - Boruk (27)

30. Jacksonville (2-8)
Can't believe all this talent has gone to waste. - Gunn (29)

They’re nearly identical to the Bears in a horrifying, putrid way. - Boruk (t-29)

31. San Francisco (1-9)
Nine straight losses. What a mess. - Gunn (31)

Allowed 100-yard rusher for the eighth time in last nine games. Whatever it takes to get Chip Kelly’s offense more plays. - Boruk (31)

32. Cleveland (0-11)
Five different quarterbacks have started for Browns. No can lead them to a win. - Gunn (32)

Now the team’s best player, tackle Joe Thomas, is calling out the front office. - Boruk (32)
