Joshua Harris, owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, bought technology from Quince Imaging to improve the pre- and post-game shows for both teams.
Quince offers a projection technology that turns the court into a movie screen, allowing for three-dimensional imagery during player introductions and other pre-game festivities.
76ers CEO Scott OβNeil said the 76ers are the third National Basketball Association team to buy the technology from Herndon, Virginia-based Quince, following the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat. Both of those teams have only used to technology for one game (see the Heat use it last year to present their players with NBA championship rings).
The Sixers plan to use it for each home game, with plans to make it four dimensional by using players and dance team members. OβNeil said the technology cost more than $1 million per team. Read more about this story on PBJ.com.
