Brettβs back -- well, he's gettin' there.
Brett Myers will put his repaired hip to the test Saturday when he takes the hill for his first rehab assignment with the Clearwater Thrashers, the Phillies' Single-A affiliate, team officials said.
Myers will pitch one inning against the Tampa Yankees, the New York Yankeesβ Florida affiliate.
The news came shortly after the right-hander pitched his third successful simulated outing, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.
Saturdayβs rehab assignment marks Myersβ first pro game since hip surgery to repair a torn right labrum, according to the team.
The game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.
Now the question remains if he can return to the Phillies in time to help out in the bullpen before the end of the season.
