Injury Concerns at Hand for Celek

Eagles tight end hurts thumb

Eagles tight end Brent Celek appeared to hurt his thumb in Philadelphia's 27-24 win over Washington on Sunday.

Celek apparently hurt his hand, but the extent of the injury remained a mystery after the game.

X-rays were negative, said the team.

But, Celek told a teammate he had torn ligaments in one of his hands.

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin stopped a passing Celek at his locker and asked, β€œyou good?”

β€œNo, I tore a few ligaments in my hand, Celek told him.

Celek extended his left hand toward Maclin to take a look. Celek has developed into a top tight end and leads the Eagles with 54 receptions. He has 601 yards receiving and five touchdowns.

Celek was seen leaving the stadium with his hand heavily taped, according to Philly.com Sports.

Maybe the busted hand could explain Celek’s three dropped passes against Washington.
He still managed to catch four passes for 33 yards against the Redskins.

Coach Andy Reid was mum on the subject at his postgame press conference -- making no mention of Celek’s reported injury.

Quarterback Donovan McNabb's other favorite target DeSean Jackson was also hurt Sunday after he suffered a concussion.

The status of Celek and Jackson for the Birds' game Sunday at Atlanta remained unknown.
