Flyers Fans Gear Up at Local Malls

Merchandise flies off shelves as Flyers frenzy heats up

Haven’t bought a Flyers jersey since the last time they were fighting for the Stanley Cup back in 1997? Now is the time to invest in some new gear.

Stores are piling up Flyers merchandise and fans are racing to local malls to stock up for the upcoming Stanley Cup Final.

The Gallery at Market East is seeing jerseys, T-shirts and hats -- basically anything with a Flyers logo -- flying off the shelves.

Fans are flocking to Tailgate City at Springfield Mall and buying up so much that the store is regularly putting in new orders.

Modell’s Sporting Goods at Cherry Hill Mall is opening its doors early to accommodate all the Flyered up fans. It opened at 9 a.m. Thursday morning instead of its usual 10 a.m.

The King of Prussia Mall Modell’s has eight table set-ups of Flyers gear and is getting new merchandise in every day.

The must-have Flyers item right now is the Eastern Conference Champs locker room T-shirt, according to sellers.

Stores say business is booming and all sports stores expect the hype to keep sales going as the Flyers battle the Blackhawks for the Stanley Cup.
