Flyers' Carter Out With Broken Foot

Center out 3 to 4 weeks

The Flyers will likely be without leading scorer Jeff Carter for the rest of the regular season.

The center has a non-displaced fracture in his left foot that will take three to four weeks to heal.

The 25-year-old felt something in his foot after blocking a shot during Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Atlanta, said the team.

"It was a harmless play…took one off the side of the foot, got home last night and it just started getting worse and worse," Carter told the team's Web site.

The team announced that an X-ray Monday morning revealed the fracture in his arch.

The Flyers, who lost a home and away series against Atlanta over the weekend, were already short a couple goalies. They now must find a way to win without Carter’s team-high 33 goals and 60 points.

"It's tough… I'd obviously love to be out there with my teammates," said Carter. "I'll work hard to get back and join them in the playoffs."
