The Eagles first-round pick Brandon Graham is officially welcomed to Philadelphia.
The Eagles officially welcomed first round pick Brandon Graham to Philadelphia this afternoon. The Michigan defensive end was excited to be picked by the Eagles and showed it with a huge smile on his face throughout the press conference.
Graham made sure his friendly nature off the field was not mistaken for soft play on the field.
“I'll hit somebody and smile right over them and let them know I'm coming back the next play,” Graham said.
The Birds traded up from the 24th spot to 13th overall to take Graham, giving up two third-round picks.
“It shows me that they have a lot of things that they see in me that I can bring to the Philadelphia Eagles,” said Graham. “I want to show them that I know how to play the game of football.”
Graham joins former Michigan Wolverines wide receiver Jason Avant and safety Marlin Jackson on the Eagles roster.
The Eagles addressed their need in the secondary tonight by selecting safety Nate Allen from the University of South Florida in the second round. The 37th overall selection was the pick they received from the Washington Redskins in return for Donovan McNabb.
The Eagles then went on a trade-down spree, stockpiling picks in the later rounds. The Birds originally had the 55th overall pick in the second round but after three trades ended up finally picking at the 86th overall spot in the third round.
With the 86th pick they selected defensive end Daniel Te'o-Nesheim from the University of Washington. Te'o-Nesheim joins Graham on a now bolstered defensive line.
