Each day of Eagles training camp NBCPhiladelphia.com will focus on different Bird trying to soar at Lehigh.

At 6-foot-1, 305 pounds, Jeff Owens stands out in a crowd but don’t think that means the Eagles rookie gets to pick who he lives with at Lehigh University.

“I thought we had to pick roommates,” Owens joked.

But he was happy to be sharing a room with some fellow defensive lineman -- Eagles No. 1 pick Brandon Graham, Alex Hall and Daryl Tapp.

That dorm room is sure going to be full of heavyweights but Owens doesn’t mind and he seemed relieved not have to pick who he would live with the next few weeks.

As for what Eagles fans can expect from the team’s seventh-round pick in this year’s draft.

“The SEC is a week in, week out battle,” the University of Georgia product said about his college football experience. “You gotta bring you’re A-game every day.”

“I’m just trying to get in camp now and prove myself -- prove I can play on this level.”

Time will tell if he can.
