Former Eagles No. 1 receiver Kevin Curtis won’t be on the field again Sunday as the Birds take on the Cowboys.

It wasn’t a surprise that the Birds officially ruled Curtis out of the Sunday Night Football showdown with rival Dallas. He remained in Utah recovering from knee surgery, according to Philly.com Sports.

Knee problems have cost Curits all but two games this season. The 31-year-old wideout hasn’t seen action since Week 2 against New Orleans when he caught three balls for 44 yards.

The last time he actually played a full season was his first season in Philly in 2007 when he emerged as Donovan McNabb’s favorite wideout hauling in 77 balls for a team-high 1,100 yards.

Since then he hasn’t stayed healthy. He battled a sports hernia and other injuries that cost him the first six weeks of the season last season. He finished with only 33 grabs for 390 yards and two TDs in just nine games.

But, McNabb and the Birds haven’t really missed Curtis as young wideouts DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin have emerged as top-flight receivers capable of spreading the field like Curtis used to do.
