Lautenberg's Family Attacks Booker, Backs Pallone

The Lautenberg family endorses U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone for the New Jersey Senate seat.

The son of the late U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg has harsh words for the front-runner in the race to fill his father's seat.

Josh Lautenberg tells The Associated Press that Newark Mayor Cory Booker is more concerned with being a celebrity than serving the people of New Jersey.

Josh Lautenberg says his father would say Booker participated in "stunts." He says his family wants New Jersey residents to "understand Cory Booker's motivation."

The family Monday endorsed U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone in the Senate race. Their statement didn't mention Booker by name but said New Jersey doesn't need a "show horse" or someone interested in "gimmicks and celebrity status."

Josh Lautenberg made clear those comments were aimed at Booker.

Booker says the Pallone endorsement was expected.
