George Washington Bridge Probe β€˜Thorough, Professional'

The federal prosecutor heading the monthslong investigation into the apparently politically motivated lane closures at the George Washington Bridge says he knows the probe needs to conclude "as expeditiously as possible."

Oaul Fishman, the U.S. attorney for New Jersey, said Wednesday that he's aware any indictments could affect Gov. Chris Christie, who's expected to announce whether he'll run for president early in 2015.

Emails and text messages have revealed that a Christie aide and an associate collaborated on the lane closures, which caused massive backups for four days last September.

Fishman made his comments on WNYC radio.

He said the public deserves a speedy investigation, and that his office is doing "the most thorough, complete, professional job we know how." He declined to offer specific details.
