Uber Board Member Resigns After Sexist Comment at Workplace Culture Meeting

Uber board member David Bonderman, who spurred outrage after making a sexist remark at a staff meeting held subsequent to an investigation of sexual harassment at the ride-sharing company, resigned on Tuesday.

The resignation will be effective as of Wednesday morning.

The comment, which can be heard on audio captured by Yahoo Finance, was made during a meeting about improving workplace culture at the ride-hailing company. Bonderman said that adding a second female member to the board would likely result in β€œmore talking on the board.”

As CNBC reports, the gaffe comes after Uber investigated 47 counts of sexual harassment within the company, uncovered after a former Uber engineer claimed the company had failed to act on sexual harassment and gender discrimination complaints.
