Dozens of thrill-seeking youngsters hopped on their boards Saturday afternoon for the opening of a new skate park in Kensington.

Local skateboarder Jesse Clayton designed the park, located at Pops playground on Trenton Avenue and East Huntingdon Street.

Clayton said he designed the new ramps and bowls after similar parks in Europe, according to KYW1060.

“Stuff that's actually designed over some things that we saw in Europe. It reflects a lot of urban architecture that's just good to skate on,” Clayton told KYW1060.

Kids were also able to help with some of the work, which took a year to complete.
