Wilmington Police Charge 2 After Attack With Bat

Two people were arrested after an attack with a baseball bat at a home in Wilmington.

Wilmington Police say officers responded to a report Saturday that a woman was hit in the head with a baseball bat. Police said the woman would not cooperate with officers and refused assistance. Police were called back to the same address a short time later for a report of a cutting.

Investigators say William Stanford, 41, had hit a 34-year-old woman with a bit. In retaliation, Nafeesa Lloyd, 24, assaulted him with a knife. Stanford and Lloyd were both arrested and charged with assault and other charges.

The woman who was hit with the bat received medical treatment and was released from a local hospital.
