Motel Worker, Guest Pull Drowning Man From Pool at Wildwood Crest Motel

A 34-year-old man nearly drowned in a Jersey Shore motel pool Saturday.

Police said a worker and a guest at the Aztec Motel, on Lavender Road in Wildwood Crest, rescued the man from the bottom of the motel pool just after 8 p.m. Saturday.

A maintenance worker shut off the electricity and pulled Subiszak out of the water. The worker and a guest performed CPR on the man.

Medics took the Fairlawn, New Jersey man to a nearby hospital, where he remained in critical condition Sunday morning, according to police.

Motel owner Adamo Pipitone says the pool will stay closed until county health officials clear it to reopen.

Detectives from the Wildwood Crest Police Department are investigating the near-drowning.
