Water Main Break in Hunting Park

Emergency crews are on the scene of a water main break at the intersection of Front Street and Hunting Park Avenue.

Authorities are investigating the cause of a water main break in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia.

It happened Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Front Street and Hunting Park Avenue. Police say a 12-inch main broke. A 36-inch main fed into it which caused water to gush out into the streets. Crews quickly arrived at the scene after the break. It took them until 9 p.m. to shut the water off.

One lane of Hunting Park Avenue is currently shut down for repairs. Three commercial properties near the break are also without water.

No word yet on what caused the break.
