WATCH: Marriage Proposal in Rittenhouse Square

It was a wedding proposal to remember for a Philadelphia couple. Philly native Dan Cataline proposed to his girlfriend Kristin Marinelli of almost two years Friday night as snow blanketed the walkway of Rittenhouse Square.

After planning the proposal for nearly a month-and-a-half, Cataline knew that Rittenhouse Square was the perfect location.

“I wanted to [propose] in January and basically searched where in Philadelphia I could do a beautiful proposal in the middle of winter,” Cataline said. “I wanted the perfect backdrop and Rittenhouse was the perfect location.”

Cataline had recruited the entire family to help him arrange the proposal. As Cataline bent down on one knee, their family members stood in the background holding balloon letters which read “Will you marry me?”

The lucky bride-to-be did not suspect anything, until she exited the town car by the entrance of the park.

“I thought I was going to cry my eyes out, I was in so much shock,” Marinelli said. “It was so beautiful, and I couldn’t ask for anything more."

Cataline recalls the wave of joy he felt as soon as he saw Marinelli walk toward him.

“As soon as I saw Kristin, I felt proud. At that moment, I knew that I had the girl of my dreams approach me at the most beautiful time,” Cataline said.

The wedding date has yet to be set, but the newly-engaged couple is eager to begin planning the special day.

“We now obviously need to start saving for the wedding,” Cataline said. “But I just love her so much, so this was the perfect time.”
