Grinches Steal Christmas (Decorations) From Home

Pa. police video shows grinches taking decorations

Yesterday, police released surveillance video -- complete with cartoon images from Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas -- of two people stealing decorations outside a row house.

The thefts occurred outside a home along the 1100 block of Fitzgerald Street in South Philly.

Police released the video Thursday because they've been unable to locate or identify a portly woman in a white hooded jacket approaching the house about 2:15 a.m. Nov. 26.

The video shows her returning about an hour later -- this time with a male companion -- to steal more decorations, but leaving a pile of faux gifts on the home's front stoop. The woman even struggles for a while to detach a Santa from the front railing.

The video on the city police YouTube channel includes captions illustrated with images from the animated TV special, including one of the Grinch using a magnet to pull nails from a fireplace mantle so he can steal Christmas stockings.
