Guy With ‘Rambo-Style' Knife Slashes Tires Along South Philadelphia Streets

Neighbors spotted a tire slashing suspect vandalizing cars parked along South Philadelphia streets overnight.

It total, about 30 cars were vandalized early Monday along Ellsworth and 13th streets, said Philadelphia Police.

Neighbors along the 1000 block of Ellsworth Street heard the sound of the puncturing of tires and air being released around 1:15 a.m. Some people even saw the vandal in action.

“I actually saw him do it to my neighbor's car. And then I saw him go down the street and do it to the next car,” said Nicole O’Rourke. “I tried to just get a good look at him… I grabbed my phone and called 911.”

Another neighbor said he ran after the suspected vandal -- a guy holding a “Rambo-style” hunting knife.

An officer caught up to a guy matching the description of the vandal at Broad and Carpenter streets -- the man had a knife in his right hand, said investigators. Police took the 29-year-old into custody with plans to charge him.

Investigators estimated the vandal slashed tires on at least 30 cars. No word yet on the total cost of the vandalism.
