Police hope this surveillance image helps track down a driver who they say veered off the road and struck man before driving away.
Delaware State Police say that a large SUV struck a man walking along Kirkwood Highway (State Route 2), west of Evelyn Road, in Wilmington, Del. around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
The crash left the 44-year-old victim with head and arm injuries that required treatment at an area hospital.
On Thursday morning, police released an image of a tan-, yellow- or cream-colored SUV that they believe struck the man while he was walking on the sidewalk of the westbound lanes of Kirkwood Highway. Investigators say for some reason the SUV veered from the right lane onto the shoulder of the roadway before its passenger-side rearview mirror clipped the man, knocking him to the ground.
Anyone with information on the crash should contact state police Troop 6 at 302-660-3775 or submit a tip online.
