Philly's Finest Honored With Awards of Valor

A ceremony was held in Old City Wednesday night to honor some of Philadelphia’s finest.

The Awards of Valor took place at the National Liberty Museum. During the event, 20 police officers and firefighters from the Philadelphia area were recognized for their courage and valor.

The Awards of Valor program has publicly recognized more than 150 of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware’s bravest for acts of heroism and for serving as role models.

NBC10’s Harry Hairston was on hand during the ceremony to help honor the heroes.

Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers also attended the event and announced that he plans to retire next year.
