An eastern Pennsylvania hospital is cutting about 3 percent of its 900 jobs to reduce costs.
Easton Hospital spokesman Stephen Wilson tells The Morning Call that the workers are being placed on unpaid leave while others are having their hours reduced. The cuts affect fewer than 30 workers in the 238-bed hospital.
Wilson says the cuts won't affect patient care or safety. For-profit Community Health Systems Inc., of Tennessee, bought the hospital for $118 million 15 years ago.
The company now controls 158 hospitals in 22 states.
