Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Wilmington

Delaware State Police say a man was killed when he tried to cross a Wilmington Street.

It happened about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday on Foulk Road, troopers said in a news release. Police say a man was trying to cross the road when he stepped directly into the path of a car.

Authorities say the car, driven by 36-year-old Edward Culver of Wilmington, hit the man, throwing him to the ground.

The man, whom police did not identify because relatives hadn't been notified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say the man wasn't in marked crosswalk and was not wearing any reflective material; it was dark and snowing at the time of the incident.

The crash remained under investigation.
