A group of Penn State University alumni say a new fundraising drive has collected over $430,000 to help victims of sexual abuse.
The Harrisburg Patriot-News (http://bit.ly/vdgd50) reports Saturday that two former alumni created Twitter and Facebook accounts to raise funds for a national charity, The Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN).
The effort began after former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was charged with molesting eight boys over a 15-year period. Sandusky has maintained his innocence.
The paper says donations totaled $53,000 in the first 24 hours, and that people who aren't connected with the school have contributed, too.
