No Charges Filed in Alleged Robbery of Boy in Wheelchair

No charges will be filed in the alleged robbery of a boy in a wheelchair.

Earlier this month, a 12-year-old boy with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair told police he was attacked and robbed by two young boys.

The boy claimed the two boys, believed to be between the ages of 12 and 14, came up behind him and pushed his wheelchair, causing it to get stuck in a storm grate. He then told police the boys punched him, pushed him out of his chair, stole his lanyard and key and then ran off.

The boy told investigators his alleged attackers had been bullying him for months.

After conducting extensive interviews with neighbors and looking through surveillance video, New Castle County Police announced Tuesday they were "unable to substantiate that a crime occurred." The case has been concluded and no charges will be filed.
