New Jersey Man Charged After Repeatedly Stabbing Woman: Police

Attempted murder charges have been filed against a man accused of stabbing and seriously injuring a woman inside a southern New Jersey home.

Ocean County prosecutors say 58-year-old Christopher Dalzell, of Brick, also faces a weapons count. His bail was set at $250,000 cash, and it wasn't known if he has retained an attorney.

The stabbing was reported shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday.

Brick police say the 50-year-old victim had been stabbed more than six times in the chest and abdomen. The woman told officers that she knew the person who had stabbed her and said he was in a bedroom in the residence.

Dalzell was soon found in the bedroom, covered with blood. It wasn't clear if he was injured in the incident.

The woman remained hospitalized in critical condition.
