A mother, father and daughter went missing while tubing at a river that runs through the Wading Pines Camping Resort in Burlington County. State Police and rangers began searching for the family shortly after midnight. The family was found unharmed about eight miles from the staging area. NBC10's Jesse Gary reports.
A nearly 12-hour long ordeal ended with a family safe and sound after they got lost while tubing on an area lake yesterday.
Police say the family of three went missing while tubing at the Wading Pines Camping Resort in Chatsworth, Burlington County, N.J. around 3 p.m. Sunday.
The search for the parents and child began near Godfrey Bridge Road after the unidentified couple’s daughter dialed 9-1-1.
A State Police helicopter, fire crews and search dogs scoured the area. The three were found safe and out of the water about eight miles from the staging area early Monday.
Police say they were cold, but not seriously injured.
As the family packed up their inner tubes, the mother said, "i would just like to go home and go to bed."
The father said his family became disoriented and then lost.
Officials didn’t release the names of the family members.
