Man to Stand Trial in Stabbing Death of Girlfriend

A man has been ordered to stand trial in the stabbing death of his girlfriend in western Pennsylvania earlier this year.

The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat reports that a Cambria County district judge held 36-year-old David Leon Johnson for trial Friday on charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, robbery and other counts.

Prosecutors allege that Johnson stabbed 30-year-old Allison Vaughn to death March 30 in the Richland Township apartment they shared.

They allege that he then used her bank card to withdraw money to buy crack cocaine.

Prosecutors said he later turned himself in at the township's police headquarters and told them about the slaying.

Vaughn entered not guilty pleas through his public defenders.
