Man in Critical After Being Struck in the Face by Baseball Bat in Kensington

A man is fighting for his life after he was struck in the face with a baseball bat in the Kensington section of the city.

The 47-year-old victim was on the 2600 block of Kensington Avenue Wednesday afternoon when another man hit him in the head and face with a baseball bat, according to investigators.

The victim was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

Investigators recovered the bat and arrested a 32-year-old man in connection to the attack. According to police, the suspect claimed the victim was trying to sell a gun to a group of people in the neighborhood which sparked an argument between the two that escalated into violence.

Police have not confirmed the suspect's claim.
