State police say a man chasing after his dog was struck and injured by a car on the Garden State Parkway in northern New Jersey.
Fifty-eight-year-old Jeffrey Wolfeld of Fair Lawn suffered a broken arm and leg when he was hit around 6:45 a.m. Saturday near milemarker 164 in Paramus.
Wolfeld had pulled his car onto the right shoulder of the highway when his dog somehow got out of the vehicle. As Wolfeld chased after the dog, he wandered into the right lane and was hit by a car driven by a 64-year-old Carlstadt woman.
The dog ran into some nearby woods after the accident, but was eventually captured by animal control.
The driver of the car that hit Wolfeld was not injured.
