Man Charged, 2 Critically Injured In Crash

Assault by auto charges have been filed against a man who was allegedly driving drunk when he crashed into another car on a central New Jersey highway, critically injuring two teenage girls.

Old Bridge police tell the Home News Tribune that the crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

They say 34-year-old Farhad Qamar-Yousufzai of Manalapan was driving southbound on Route 9 when he rear-ended a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Rivka Willner of Lakewood. Two 16-year-old female passengers in the rear seat of Willner's vehicle were injured in the crash and had to be extricated.

Willner was also hurt, but further details on the injuries she and her passengers suffered were not disclosed.

It wasn't clear if Qamar-Yousufzai was hurt in the crash or if he has retained a lawyer.
