On Wednesday at 10 p.m., police responded to a community in Newark, Delaware for a report of a suspicious vehicle. When police arrived, they performed a vehicle stop on a white Ford Focus parked in the area, according to investigators. Investigators say they then approached the driver, later identified as Edward Kornegay, 32, of Chester, Pennsylvania. A 17-year-old teen boy was his passenger, according to investigators.
Through an investigation, police say they later learned Kornegay and the teen met through an ad on Craig’s List, prompting Kornegay to meet him in Newark. Police say they also learned Kornegay had sexual relations with the teen at least twice.
Kornegay was arrested and charged with two counts of rape in the fourth degree. He was arraigned and then released on $40,000 unsecured bail.
