Local Officers Honor Flight 93 Victims in Motorcycle Ride

With the 10th anniversary of 9/11 only one week away, local law enforcement officers took to the road on Saturday to honor the lives lost on that fateful day.

Around 100 police officers, sheriff deputies and correctional officers gathered at the Curran Fromhold Correctional Facility on State Road in Holmesburg.

Opening remarks were made by Philadelphia Prisons Commissioner Louis Giorla. The motorcycle riders then embarked on a 260-mile journey from the CFCF parking lot to the Flight 93 memorial site near Shanksville, Pa.

The riders are members of the Brothers for Flight 93. Both the group and Saturday’s event honor the 33 passengers and seven crew-members of Flight 93 who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

The event also raised money for the Flight 93 Memorial Fund.
