A violent home invasion left a man bound and pistol whipped overnight.

Two armed, masked men burst into a home along the 2100 block of S 65th Street in Southwest Philadelphia late Tuesday night.

Police responded to a burglary alarm at the home just around midnight.

“Upon police arrival they were met by the 63-year-old resident of the property who stated that he was the victim of a home invasion robbery,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Small said that the man, who was home alone, told investigators that the suspects burst in after he opened the door to investigate a noise outside.

The suspects duct taped the man’s hands behind his back and struck him in the head with a gun.

“They then proceeded to ransack the entire house demanding he tell them where the money is,” Small said.

The men then fled with about $700 cash.

The homeowner freed himself from the tape and called police.

Medics transported the man to the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition with head injuries.

The resident told police that both suspects were about 5-foot-11-inches to 6-foot-2-inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds and had their faces partially covered.

It wasn't clear if the attackers specifically targeted the home.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia Police.
