Christie Puts Out $$ to Get on Beach

NJ's governor charged $8 for a beach badge

New Jersey’s beach badges are always a touchy subject, but apparently, everyone must pay for entry to Jersey’s beaches…. even the state’s own Governor.

Following a beachfront speech about New Jersey’s tourism industry on Thursday, Gov. Chris Christie was headed onto the sand in Manasquan for a photo opportunity with other lawmakers in attendance, the NY Daily News reports.

What makes a better picture than a beach backdrop, right? Well that photo cost the Governor some dough: $8 to be exact.

The beach, which was under the watch of badge checker Trish Heisler, normally charges an $8 entry fee, and according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the governor was no exception.

Heisler asked Christie if she should charge him and Christie reached into his wallet and handed Heisler a $20 bill, the NY Daily News reports.

It is not clear if the state’s leader was given change, but perhaps he was just hoping to avoid the outcry caused when he initially skipped out on another bill. That bill, of course, is known as the state’s infamous “Choppergate”  incident.
