Toll Cheats on the Parkway, Beware

Video cameras are active at all 84 exact change lanes on the Garden State Parkway to catch toll cheats.

Motorists who use the exact change lanes on the Garden State Parkway better make sure they're carrying coins.

As of Monday morning, cameras are active at all 84 exact-change lanes to catch toll cheats.

The parkway has lost $3.2 million to toll cheats so far this year.

New Jersey Turnpike Authority spokesman Tom Feeney tells The Asbury Park Press the previous odds of getting caught were slim because only three officers were assigned to write down license plate numbers of offenders.

There's no need to honk the horn for missing the basket.

Computers will keep track of an offender's license plate number and motorists will get a $50 violation notice on the second offense.

The agency will no longer offer envelopes for motorists to mail in the toll.
